ImportBox – Self-Contained Sandbox Configurations

Portable and Modular Sandbox Configurations

The ImportBox feature in Sandboxie Plus introduces a powerful new way to manage sandbox configurations by allowing users to store sandbox settings in separate, self-contained .ini files. This is especially useful for portable sandboxes, making it easier to move, share, or maintain isolated configurations without modifying the global configuration file.

How It Works

By adding the following line to the global sandboxie.ini configuration file:

[GlobalSettings]
ImportBox=path_to_box.ini

Users can define a sandbox whose configuration is loaded from an external .ini file. This enables:

  • Self-Contained Configurations – Each sandbox can have its own settings stored separately, making it easier to manage and backup.
  • Portable Sandboxes – Fully independent sandbox setups that can be moved between systems without affecting the global Sandboxie configuration.
  • Cleaner Global Configuration – The main configuration file remains smaller and more organized, as individual sandboxes can be managed externally.

Key Benefits

  • Modular Configuration Management: Keep sandbox settings in separate .ini files instead of cluttering the global configuration.
  • Enhanced Portability: Ideal for carrying pre-configured sandboxes on USB drives or using them across multiple systems.
  • Easier Debugging & Customization: Users can isolate specific sandbox settings, making troubleshooting and modifications simpler.
  • Improved Organization: Helps keep system-wide settings separate from individual sandbox configurations.

A More Flexible Way to Manage Sandboxes

With ImportBox, Sandboxie Plus takes configurability to the next level, offering users greater control over their sandbox setups while improving portability and maintainability.
